But, you are more than qualified. The Bible equips us with how to pray and gives us many examples of what to do and what not to do. Fun Fact:

There was a season where I hosted a small group at my house for older women to pour into younger women. It was amazing. The three older women (ages 60-70) showed up every other Monday and taught us younger women (ages 27-30) how to do life as a Christ follower in our wife and mother roles. I think it’s my favorite small group I’ve ever been in. It seriously changed my life and gave me an awesome support group to always turn to for prayer and needs.

On the very first meeting day,

my almost 3 year old started throwing up everywhere and everyone had to leave early. We knew immediately that it was an attack from the enemy because God was going to do something great in our small, but mighty, group. The next meeting, something else happened to some of the younger women.  Again, an attack from the enemy.  We kept on persevering and making it a point to meet up even when it was difficult.

As we shared our stories..

I learned that the “little old ladies who love Jesus” also had pasts.  It was so freeing to hear their struggles and how they overcame them and gave them to the Lord.  One of the ladies who led the group suggested that we pray over my house, especially when things were going awry in my life.  I watched her walk through my house with anointing oil, touch every door frame and pray over every room.  It was so awesome to see how easy it was to just bless your house and see the results.

The first time she prayed over my house, my 1 and 3 year olds slept through the night.  Which was something that had never really happened.  We prayed over their room and commanded the devil away and invited Jesus’ presence.  We asked for peaceful sleep and for everyone to wake up well rested and it worked..  For the first time, I saw the power of prayer over a house.

Looking back,

what a blessing it was to learn from them and now I want to teach you how to pray over your house and do it with authority.

Pray over your house with the authority of Jesus in you and do not be timid. God can do mighty things in your household through you.

How to pray over your house:

Dos:

  • Remember you have the power of Jesus in you if you have accepted His gift of salvation.
  • Speak over each room with authority.
  • Command the devil to leave because he has no place in your home.
  • Ask God to fill each room with His presence and blessing.
  • Offer up your house as a place for God’s Will to dwell.
  • Ask God to give you what is needed for that room (For example: If praying over a kid’s room who is suffering from nightmares and lack of sleep, ask God to give peace over this room, give good dreams, good sleep and for everyone to wake up well rested.  Command the enemy to leave and ask God to fill this room with His presence.)

Don’ts:

  • Don’t forget that the all powerful God dwells inside of you if you’ve accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior
  • Don’t hold back in your prayer. God can do mighty things.
  • Don’t pray generic prayers, ask and speak specifics over each room

If you’ve never accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, I can help you.  All it takes is believing that God sent His son Jesus to die for your sins and asking for Jesus to be your Lord and Savior.  Just pray a heartfelt prayer asking God to forgive you and come into your heart.  Then turn from your sin and you learn and grow closer to the Lord.  Let Him work in your life and see how He transforms you.
