I know I need a trusting God plan sometimes when doubt starts to creep in.
Trust. Something simple yet difficult to do. I’ve always said that I trust in God and His timing but have I really? No. I don’t think I have. And if we’re honest, I don’t think most others have either.

Trust Me
“Trust Me,” God says. While this seems relatively simple, we make it complicated. I’ve been through my fare share of trials and thought I trusted God. I’ve said it out loud, I’ve truly thought I was trusting in His timing while secretly wishing situations away, I’ve told others to trust Him. All the while, I was doubting God’s plan.
Over time, God has allowed me to STRUGGLE so that I would rely on Him.
The biggest struggle was when my family hit a bad financial season. We truly couldn’t even buy groceries. I remember driving to work and asking God to just feed me somehow at work and then feed my family for dinner. We didn’t even have the money for food for the day. That same day, I showed up to work to a coworker asking if I needed a lunch because she brought extra. Wow, that was a God thing. Then I get a message from an old friend telling me to stop by her house on the way home (that was very unusual). After visiting for awhile she offered me some freezer food that she had because she had lots and didn’t have the room for it or the time to cook it all. Wow, another God thing.
Looking back on that day, my mindset shifted.
I went from being bitter in a less than ideal situation to being thankful for what God had provided. I just had to trust Him. He allowed me to be in a situation where I had to trust Him. I had to slow down long enough to talk to Him daily to provide. I had to rely on Him fully. And guess what. When I actually started trusting Him, when I realized He was growing me and not punishing me, THAT is when I started to truly trust God.
I now smile in the tough times because God is producing good character. He’s shaping me and molding me to be more like Him. This makes me think of James 1:2-4, Dear brothers and sisters, when trouble of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
So count trials of any kind as joy.
Let’s talk about you trusting God.
Are you truly trusting God? What is the area of your life that worries you the most? Dare I suggest you truly trusting God with that area? For real, quit trying and start trusting. When you shift your mindset and look at your struggle as a blessing, everything changes.
So here is a trusting God plan.
These are 3 questions to ask God in the midst of a struggle:
- God, are You in this?
- God, what are You wanting me to learn from this?
- God, will You renew my strength to lean on You through this trial?
